Moshaw Mafia

Mosquito Hawk Records was originally formed in the early 1990's by Rev. Chad Wells as a successor to his previous "cassette only" labels Roadkill Pizza Incorporated and Evil Acid Productions. The label was formed to set new material by Rev's band C.O.H. apart from it's older material. The label was originally called "Ch.ad.mi.st", a word created by putting together the first two letters of each member of C.O.H.'s names (Chad, Adam, Mike and Steve). When one of the members of C.O.H. (Adam) was fired, Rev decided to change the label's name once again. While vacationing in Arizona Rev became interested in Native rock art (glyphs) and a recurring symbol that was used that looked similar to the Cross of Lorraine. The pict symbolized a dragonfly which the natives referred to as a Mosquito Hawk due to it's tendency to feed on Mosquitos.

Strange Synchronicities...

Rev saw the symbol's meaning as a sort of strange coincidence that connected a theory he had discussed and written about for years that basically stated that parents, preachers. priests and politicians were all human forms of Mosquitos, draining the blood from the youth culture. To name his label after something that destroyed these "P-Mosquitos" as he called them would make a bold statement about the label's rebellious stance against "normal" society. Fast forward all the way to the present and Mosquito Hawk or the Moshaw Mafia as it's referred to as by those in the know has become an entity larger than previously planned in that it encompasses all of Rev. Wells' publishing, production, recording, management and consultation projects as well as serving as a home for his zine/e-zine collective "The Bad Times". Mosquito Hawk is an umbrella under which all audio, visual and print projects featuring Rev. Wells operates. This includes bands and projects he is personally involved in as a member as well as bands or projects that he consults or manages. It encompasses all of his written works as well as works written by others in collaboration with or under the guidance of Rev. Wells.
